Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha tested positive for Covid-19 today,
The Chief Minister tweeted a copy of his Twitter report: “I have been tested Covid-19 positive today. I am absolutely fit and fine with no symptoms. I humbly request everyone who has come in contact with me to take the necessary precautions .”
Manik Saha, herself an oral surgeon, had attended various celebration and official programs in different parts of the state.
Manik Saha, who also has the health portfolio, urged people who came into contact with him to take the necessary precautions.
Earlier in the day, he opened an oxygen factory at the IGM hospital. Some senior officials were also present on the occasion.
He urged everyone to maintain COVID-appropriate behavior, including wearing masks, maintaining physical distancing and using sanitizer.
Given the increase in new cases of Covid-19, the Tripura government has made the wearing of face masks mandatory in public places from 12 July.
The positivity rate rose to 10.86 percent today, from 0.93 percent on July 1.
With 1,906 active cases in Tripuratoday, a total of 365 people tested positive in the past 24 hours.
