A 40-year-old man is said to have killed his wife after a fight in their house in Tripura, spent a few hours with the body and then entered a police station to report his own crime on Tuesday, an officer said.
The man, a resident of the Amtali Police Station area in the West Tripura district, was arrested.
Shyamal Das Quarrel with his wife Swapna about some family problems and hit her with an object that killed her on the spot on Monday evening, said sub-inspector of the Shyamal Paul police station.
“Shyamal spent the night with the body in his house. Today around 1.20 pm he entered the police station and claimed that his wife was in a puddle of blood in his house. A police team went to the place and restored the body, “he said.
The police sent the body for post-mortem investigation and started an investigation.
