Maharaj Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barman, head of the Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (Tipra Motha), lashed out at the state’s previous governments on Saturday, saying the people of Tripura have made no progress due to the “lack of interest” of the Congress and “misgovernment”. from BJP.
“It is very unfortunate that the communist ideologies, the lack of interest from the Congress and the misrule of the Bharatiya Janata Party have not allowed Tripura to progress. What we need is empowerment, we have constitutional protection, employment and need a better livelihood. So I want to say to the people of Tripura who have been playing with all of you for the past 70 years, now is your time to step out on the field and make your own future,” said Mr. Barman while speaking with ANI spoke.
Tripura will head to the Assembly polls on February 16. The votes will be counted on March 2, along with Nagaland and Meghalaya.
He went on to say that he did not get into politics to make money.
“For the first time since independence, a local party is trying something new. I didn’t get into politics to make money. We didn’t give candidates from just one community, but from every community and religion,” Barman said.
Speaking about his party’s manifesto for the upcoming state assembly elections, he said he wanted people to know the party’s mindset through the manifesto.
“We want a manifesto to come out so that everyone knows what we think when we come to power. Until now parties from Delhi made manifestos and announced them to us. We wanted to listen to the requests of our people,” he said further.
He further exuded his hopes of being elected to power in the state.
“I hope that the public will also accept and accept our little company in the coming days,” he added.
He also underlined 15 problems in the state and assured that he would resolve them within 150 days of taking office.
“We didn’t say we will change the whole world, but that’s 15 realistic things like health, education, women’s safety, CAA, minority rights, tribal rights, women’s empowerment, jobs, the problem of drinking water, we will within the first 150 days, we will take action when we come to power,” the party chief said.
Mr. Barman lashed out at the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma over his statement that Tipra Motha alone cannot form the government, and Mr. Barman said, “If Himanta has said that Tipra Motha alone cannot form the government, then then there is no point in voting for him so if BJP can’t form government in Meghalaya then don’t vote for BJP either If BJP can’t form government on its own in Mizoram then don’t vote for BJP In Nagaland also , if the BJP can’t win the election on its own, don’t do it.”
