A man was arrested by Delhi Police within 48 hours after the Indian Oil Corporation reported an incident of theft from the Delhi-Panipat section of the pipeline on October 4.
The oil and gas giant said in its complaint that it inspected its pipeline on September 29 and found that oil was likely stolen from a spot in Delhi’s Dwarka area.
Police, based on their complaint, visited the area and found that the IOCL pipeline had been drilled and a plastic pipe had been inserted into the pipe using the valve mechanism.
The police team dug up the area and found that the suspect had installed a machine to extract oil by drilling holes in the pipeline and using plastic pipes to connect to the main oil line.
The pipes were laid approximately 40 meters from the IOCL pipeline through a tunnel believed to have been dug by the suspect. The pipes come above ground on a plot owned by a 52-year-old Rakesh, alias Golu. The police arrested him.
He is questioned about the suspect involved in the theft and efforts are made to arrest the others involved.
A case has been filed under relevant sections of the Petroleum and Mineral Pipelines (Acquisition of Right to Use Right to Land) Act, Explosive Substances Act, Indin Penal Code and Essential Commodities Act.
Police found a 40-meter pipe, a 62-meter pipe, a 35-meter pipe, a mini blower, a large blower, wrenches, boxes of epoxy hardener, a handsaw, a caulking gun. , and, among other things, a wooden ladder from the construction site.
