Bhopal:
BJP leader Uma Bharti has again made headlines for her crackdown on liquor sales in Madhya Pradesh.
Ms Bharti said on Saturday: “The new liquor policy will be implemented in the state on January 31, until then I remain in the shelter of God.”
Ahead of the introduction of the new liquor policy, Ms Bharti will spend the next three days at the Panchmukhi Hanuman and Durga Temple in the capital city of Bhopal’s Ayodhya Nagar and demand that the policy be tightened.
Notably, a liquor store is located in front of the aforementioned temple in town. Mrs. Bharti said, “The one who is to be destroyed is in front (liquor store), the one from whom power is to be obtained is behind (temple). I came here because I had many troubles. There is a temple of Goddess Durga and Lord Hanuman, but in front of it just 50 yards away is a liquor store and bar.”
“On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, when it was time of Navratri on 2 October 2022, a group of a few women had held a march against the sale of liquor. In doing so, the state government had announced that they would consult on liquor policy and said also about revenue that it would not be considered a huge base for recovery. The government also said they understood the problem of women and would also try to find a way for taverns,” she said.
“I have full confidence in CM Chouhan, but there is a fear that those whom the government has consulted have not caused any problems. Now on January 31, I will hear what decision the government has made in the new liquor policy,” she added. .
“I believe that if the controlled liquor distribution system is implemented on my behalf, an equal number of women will vote that the 2003 record will be repeated in Madhya Pradesh. Because everything will be washed down in alcohol, because even Ladli Laxmiya is not safe to travel by road. walk and even residential people are not living happily. All plans are destroyed and washed away in the flood of booze. Therefore, a healthy society should be built and Madhya Pradesh will become the model state in the controlled booze distribution system,” Ms Bharti added.
