A 16-year-old boy allegedly killed three members of his family and a neighbor in a remote village in Tripura’s Dhalai district and dumped their bodies in a well, a senior police officer said Sunday.

“Initial investigations suggest that the boy, a resident of Kamalpur subdivision, used drugs on a routine basis. He killed his mother, grandfather, 10-year-old sister and a neighbor on Saturday morning while his father was away. The motive for the crime is not yet clear.” said the officer.
According to the officer, the boy’s father came home to find blood spatter everywhere, and the bodies were dumped in the pit next to the house.
The father raised the alarm, after which villagers informed the police of the incident.
Villagers claimed they heard loud music playing at the suspect’s household around 9:30 am, and hours later his father found the four bodies in the well.
“We suspect he played loud music to keep other villagers in the dark,” the police officer said.
The bodies were recovered Saturday night and sent for autopsy, he said.
“There were injuries on the bodies indicating that the killer used a blunt object to kill the four people. However, the actual cause of death will not be known until after the post-mortem report arrives,” the officer said, adding that the suspect was arrested. detained as he tried to flee the village.
