Mamata’s move turned out to be inspired by the ‘Chai pe Charcha’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi held weeks ago.
On March 4, the Prime Minister drank hot tea in a ‘kulhar’ that he took directly from the owner of the tea stall. In between, he waved off to the people gathered outside the store who were cheering enthusiastically.
PM Modi had launched ‘chai pe charcha’ during his 2014 campaign as BJP’s prime ministerial candidate. The initiative, launched after Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar’s comments about PM Modi’s humble origins, is seen as a major contributor to the success of the BJP. in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
