New Delhi:
BJP leader Sudhanshu Tripathi on Wednesday criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his “ravenous policy” against the party, saying it resembles former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s statement of “Hum Do, Hamare Do.”
Mr Tripathi alleged that the former Prime Minister’s comments ridiculed the BJP, which then had two MPs in the Lok Sabha, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi tweeted: “Fear becomes coercion and fear turns into hatred. People must remain ensnared, and the rule of ‘Hum Do, Hamare Do’ continues. This is the aim of the BJP’s divisive policy.”
Reflecting on the comments, the BJP leader said: “Rahul Gandhi’s father Rajiv Gandhi had said the same words ‘Hum Do, Hamare Do’ in parliament. He had fooled the BJP. But regardless of the number of our party leaders, all our MPs are committed to the country. Their leaders are committed to just one family.”
“Only one slogan is raised at our meetings, whether it is Prime Minister Modi’s meeting or JP Nadda’s meeting, that is Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Vande Mataram. But during Congress meetings, slogans are praised in which their leaders are praised,” he added.
Mr Tripathi further lashed out at the Congress party for not visiting Himachal and Gujarat, who are expected to go to parliamentary polls.
“Rahul Gandhi takes out the yatra. What is the fear that has prevented him from visiting Himachal and Gujarat? Congress calls itself a follower of Gandhi ji, why did they not visit his house?” he said.
‘Why don’t they go to Sardar Patel’s house or Subhas Chandra Bose’s house? Why don’t they go to Amethi or Raebareli?’ Mr Tripathi added.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed Tuesday that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) agenda is to develop fear in people’s minds based on discrimination and then turn that fear into hatred between religions and castes.
At a meeting in Maharashtra’s Nanded district during Bharat Jodo Yatra, the Congress MP said: “BJP and RSS agenda is fixed, they first developed fear in people’s minds and then turned that fear into hatred between religions and castes. We will continue our Bharat Jodo Yatra and it will end in Jammu and Kashmir in Srinagar.”
Rahul Gandhi criticized the Center for demonetization and said the BJP government’s decision has destroyed poor farmers, small business owners, shop owners and others.
“On this date, Prime Minister Narendra Modi came on television around 8:00 PM and said that his government was engaged in demonetization. He told the public that it was for the betterment of their lives, but demonetization destroyed the lives of farmers, poor people and small businessmen.” he said.
The congress leader went on to say that Prime Minister Modi failed to demonize and destroyed the lives of poor farmers and small MSME workers.
