New Delhi:
President Pushkar Singh Dhami reiterated on Saturday that the state government will form a committee that takes into account all stakeholders and specialists.
During his visit to Delhi, Mr Dhami told media: “We will soon form a committee on the Uniform Civil Code. After the committee is formed, we will consider all stakeholders and specialists who will prepare the draft. Based on the draft, UCC will be implemented in Uttarakhand.”
The Uniform Civil Code is a proposal in India to enact and enforce personal laws of citizens that apply equally to all citizens irrespective of their religion, gender, gender and sexual orientation. Currently, the personal laws of various communities are determined by their religious scriptures.
The code falls under Article 44 of the Constitution, which stipulates that the state should strive for a unified civil code for the citizens throughout the territory of India. Notably, in the BJP’s 2019 Lok Sabha election manifesto, BJP pledged to implement UCC if it comes to power.

“To ensure this does not happen, we have conducted a verification campaign which has revealed the names of numerous suspected individuals,” added Mr Dhami.
In particular, the Yatra is planned from May 3.
