New Delhi:
A 79-year-old woman was found dead at her home in southwest Delhi’s Jia Sarai area with an injury to her neck, police said on Tuesday.
A PCR call regarding the incident was received at Kishangarh police station around 11 pm on Sunday, a senior police officer said.
After police arrived at the scene, they discovered the body of a woman – identified as Krishna Devi – lying in a pool of blood. The front of her neck had a deep wound, police said.
According to police, Mamta, who runs a small kitchen for students, provided food for Krishna Devi.
On Sunday around 9:30 p.m., she arrived to deliver her food, only to find the lights were out. She called a person from the second floor and found her lying in her room, police said. No signs of theft or burglary have been observed so far, the officer said.
The body was sent to Safdarjung Hospital for autopsy and the spot was inspected by the crime squad and forensics, police said.
A case under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC has been registered at Kishangarh police station and investigation is underway, they added.
