Sambhal:
A Traveling Ticket Examiner (TTE) has been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a woman along with his companion on an AC bus of a moving train in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Sunday.
The incident took place on January 16 in the Chandausi area of Sambhal district, officials said.
KB Singh, Chandausi Station House Officer (SHO), said the accused TTE has been identified as Raju Singh and was known to the woman.
The woman lodged a complaint with the Railway Police (GRP) station in Sambhal district, on the basis of which the suspected TTE was arrested.
“The woman was waiting at Chandausi railway station on January 16 when the suspect TTE gave her a seat in the AC bus. She was on her way from Chandausi to Subedarganj in Prayagraj. The suspect was an acquaintance of the woman. Around 10 p.m. between Chandausi and Aligarh, the TTE came with another person, whom she does not recognize, and allegedly raped her,” Singh said.
The woman said she did not recognize the other person. The police showed a lot of TTE, but the other suspect was not found,” he added.
Based on the woman’s complaint, a case has been registered under IPC Section 376D. Police further said that efforts to identify and track down the other defendants are ongoing and they are continuing to investigate the case.
