Shashank Sharma was previously Business Head at Zepto Cafe.
New Delhi:
Shortly after announcing plans to offer its cafe service as a separate app, Zepto has elevated Shashank Shekhar Sharma to the CXO of Zepto Cafe with effect from December 2024.
Sharma, who has built Zepto Cafe since its inception, will oversee Café operations, footprint expansion, equipment procurement, quality control and Zepto Café's end-to-end customer experience, a company statement said.
Mr. Sharma was previously Business Head at Zepto Cafe and will continue to report to Zepto President Vinay Dhanani.
“After two years of deep work, iteration and disciplined scaling, Zepto Café now has more than 30,000 orders per day and we believe there is clear customer-product-market fit and solid unit economics.
“This outstanding execution was only possible because of the leadership of Shashank Shekhar Sharma, who worked tirelessly with his team to transform Zepto Café from a fringe idea into what could be the next revolution in food QSR in India,” said co-founder and CEO of Zepto. Aadit Palicha said this in a LinkedIn post on Thursday.
Earlier this month, the young CEO said in a social media post that Zepto Cafe will soon be launched as a separate app, highlighting the rapid scaling of the cafe service that has motivated the separate offering.
“Next week we're launching a separate app for Zepto Cafe! The team is shipping an MVP (minimum viable product) and iterating quickly, so it might not be perfect on day 1, but it's worth launching quickly.
“Zepto Cafe is growing quickly; we are launching more than 100 cafes per month and already processing more than 30,000 orders per day,” Mr. Palicha wrote.
Zepto Cafe was launched in April 2022 as a division of Zepto, which itself was founded in July 2021 by Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra.
Last month, Zepto unveiled plans to expand its cafe service to key cities, launching more than 120 cafes in locations such as Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru, with upcoming expansions to Hyderabad, Chennai and Pune.
“The response has been phenomenal, with Zepto Cafe now achieving an (estimated) Annual Run Rate (ARR) GMV of Rs 160 crore using just 15 percent of our growing dark store network with proven unit economics.
“As we expand into new cities and launch over 100 new cafes every month, we are on track to achieve an ARR of Rs 1,000 crore by the next fiscal,” Mr Palicha had said.
