Devotees observe Anant Chaturdashi Vrat to seek blessings of Lord Vishnu.
Pandit Nandkishor also explained that on this day Lord Vishnu had assumed fourteen forms to protect the fourteen worlds.
Anant Chaturdashi Vrat is celebrated on Thursday, September 28 and also marks the conclusion of the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities. It is believed that if the devotees fast on this day, they will acquire wisdom, wealth and prosperity. This fast is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is celebrated every year on the Chaturdashi tithi of Shukla Paksha in the Bhadrapada month, as per the Hindu calendar.
One of the most respected astrologers from Deoghar, Pandit Nandkishor Mudgal, explained the auspicious time and pooja rituals for observing Anant Chaturdashi Vrat. In an interview with Lokaal 18 he also explained what you should not eat on this day during the fasting period.
According to Pandit Nandkishor, it is not advisable for devotees to eat salt while fasting. Pandit Nandkishor said consuming salt on Anant Chaturdashi can harm the well-being of the family.
He also explained that on this day Lord Vishnu had assumed fourteen forms to protect the fourteen worlds. He also said that the infinite form (anant roop) of Lord Vishnu is worshiped on the Anant Chaturdashi. Anant is a Sanskrit term that means endless or limitless and also means infinity. On this day, the devotees tie a thread with 14 knots on his hands. Pandit Nandkishor believes that doing this will solve the problems in the house and will bring prosperity and happiness to the household.
Chaturdashi Tithi starts on September 27 at 8:49 PM and ends the next day on September 28 at 6:32 PM. Ganesha Visarjan is also on the program on this day. The auspicious time for immersing Lord Ganesha will be from 9:43 AM to 3:05 PM.
Devotees seeking wealth are said to attain it in abundance by observing the fast of Anant Chaturdashi. On the other hand, those seeking spiritual enlightenment can, by fasting on this day, find a path that leads them to an eternal connection with the divine.
