Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma is never afraid to try different types of cuisines and local dishes. And we see her keeping us updated on her food explorations on her social media platform. Recently, the PK actress took to her Instagram stories to post about one of her latest meals that Bengalis love. Wondering what? It is a Panta Bhat dish.
Panta Bhat is rice that has been soaked overnight and fermented in water. The dish is usually prepared with leftover rice from the last meal. It is consumed cool, with some water on it. The dish has a very earthy, homey flavor that is very local and comforting. Panta Bhatt is served with boiled aloo mashed with herbs, aubergine fritter, fried vadi, fried whole red chili, onion salt and some mustard oil. Some people also like Panta Bhatt with aloo posto, fried fish and a bhurji and more.
However, the actress wanted to keep it basic and authentic and combined the dish with some aloo chokha, aubergine fritter, onion, green chili and some mustard oil drizzled over the rice.
This dish is especially celebrated in Odisha. However, in Bihar, it is eaten with the masala of pickles and usually consumed in the morning.
On the work front, Anushka Sharma, who is next seen in Chakda Xpress, has stepped back from her production house Clean Slate Filmz due to work commitments. She has participated in films like Dil Dhadakne Do and Sultan.
