Summers are here and so is our desire to spend a restful vacation. When you’re done with the usual hill station getaways, there’s always Europe. France is at the top of the list if you are planning a European vacation. Cannes, the beautiful city in the French Riveria, remains a favorite. It will be teeming with worldwide artists and tourists in May, thanks to the famous Cannes International Film Festival.
Cannes is more than just a place for celebrities and paparazzi, though. If you have the cash to splurge and treat yourself to a luxurious French summer vacation, Cannes is the perfect place to start. Chic beaches with sunbeds and liner-sized yachts moored in the harbor make for an everlasting Cannes landscape.
One of the newest additions to Cannes’ tourist attractions is an underwater museum that opened last year. After four years, British underwater artist Jason deCaires Taylor created the sculptures and formed his first installation in the Mediterranean. The underwater art installation includes portraits of local residents ranging from an 80-year-old local fisherman to a nine-year-old primary school student. The sculptures are located at a depth of up to three meters and weigh about 12 tons each. Take a dip in the Mediterranean and see these fascinating new areas.
Another classic Cannes tourist attraction are the quintessential multi-star hotels and couture shops along the iconic Bolevard de la Croisette. The area may be largely occupied by the rich and famous, but everyone can enjoy an evening stroll along the palm-shaded promenade, when the twinkling bright lights mark the area.
The street also offers views of the Baie de Cannes and the nearby Esterel Mountains, making your summer vacation even more memorable and postcard-like.
The seaside hotel palaces shine in all their beautiful Art Deco glory, and you can probably use one of the rooms in these hotels to make the most of your trip.
