Whether it’s morning, afternoon or evening, a cup of tea comforts you like a warm hug with every sip
As much as we love our obligatory cup of tea in the morning, it’s pointless until and unless we have a snack to enjoy with it. Whether in the morning, afternoon or evening, a cup of tea comforts you like a warm hug with every sip, but any snack to complement your tea time is like icing on the cake. But did you know that combining some foods with tea can harm the nutrient content they provide? Here is a list of foods to avoid while enjoying your cup of tea:
cold food
Combining cold food with hot tea can disrupt the digestive process. This is because consuming foods of different temperatures together can weaken your digestive process and even make you nauseous. Once you drink hot tea, you should wait at least 30 minutes before eating anything cold.
green vegetables
Time and again we have been told that we should regularly include green vegetables in our meals because they are rich in iron. But when green vegetables are combined with hot tea, a few compounds called tannins and oxalates in your tea can inhibit your body’s absorption of iron.
gram flour
While we are all die-hard fans of Pakodas with hot ginger tea during the rainy season, this combination can have serious side effects on your health. Serving up some onion fritters with tea is our go-to snack when guests knock on our door, but this tasty pair can lead to digestive issues that can cause constipation and acidity later on.
Turmeric
All of you should avoid eating foods high in turmeric with tea as the chemical elements present in your hot drink and turmeric can cause extreme harm to the digestive system and cause acid reflux. One of the most favored breakfasts, Poha has a high content of turmeric and is often served during breakfast.
Lemon
Although lemon tea is the favorite drink for fitness enthusiasts, combining tea leaves with this citrus fruit can become very acidic in nature and even cause bloating.
