Delhi's IGI is the world's 3rd busiest airport, check out the top 10 busiest airports here:

The IGI airport surpassed China’s Guangzhou airport in March. China’s airport is currently the fourth busiest airport in the world.

After a few horrendous years as a result of Covid-19, the travel industry around the world is showing the hopeful sign of a steady recovery. We say this because the Official Airline Guide (OAG) highlighted the traffic recovery of many international airports, but recently revealed the list of the 10 busiest airports in March 2022. The list included the airports that recaptured their rankings. India has something to cheer about as Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport is up six places and is in third place on the list.

The IGI airport surpassed China’s Guangzhou airport in March. China’s airport is currently the fourth busiest airport in the world.

Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is once again the busiest in the world, regaining first place after falling to second place in 2020 as the pandemic hit the world. Dubai International Airport is in second place. Once again, the United States maintained its dominance over the list of the world’s busiest airports, as five of its airports made up more than half of the March’s top 10.

Dallas and Denver captured all the attention as they moved from their pre-pandemic positions of 16th and 21st in 2019 to rank 11th and 14th, respectively. This upgrade of US airports came at the cost of a few Asian airports that lost their presence in the top 10 as some of the major international airports of 2019, such as Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai, fell from their previous positions.

This was clearly a result of travel restrictions due to COVID. The good news for the Japanese is that Tokyo’s Haneda International Airport has re-entered the top 10 busiest airports and is now in ninth position, just ahead of London’s Heathrow Airport, which by the way has moved up 8 places to take 10th place for the first time this year.
