Skin care is crucial for both men and women. Not taking care of your skin at a young age can lead to skin problems such as signs of aging, uneven skin tone and fine lines. We use a variety of products in our daily lives to protect our skin from damage, but sometimes certain formulations just aren’t right for us.

dr. Aarthi, a dermatologist consultant, recently shared a post on her Instagram handle, discussing skincare products like charcoal, acne wipes, scrubs, and topical tranexamic acid, which are overhyped but not very effective.

Activated Charcoal: According to the expert, charcoal is not really good, despite the fact that charcoal helps to purify the skin by removing oil, dirt and dead skin cells from the skin’s surface. “Your skin can get worse after using charcoal products, some masks and face washes can cause dryness and hyperpigmentation. Your acne can also return vengefully,” says the dermatologist.
Acne wipes: According to Dr. Aarthi, if you are someone who undergoes laser treatment, acne wipes are not for you. People who are not undergoing treatment are also advised not to use wipes, because according to the expert: “Some wipes can cause rashes and even pimples in the skin that may look like acne, but are actually an irritating reaction to some of the chemicals in the skin.” the skin. wipes.”
scrubs: According to the dermatologist, scrubs tend to alter pH and if overused, it can lead to “acute irritation and irritant contact dermatitis and pustular acne.”
Topical Tranexamic Acid: The doctor says she prefers oral tranexamic acid because it treats pigmentation the best, but thinks topical creams are overrated because she didn’t see much difference in using them.
