A wave of galas ended the year. Creative Time held its first gala in three years on Dec. 7 at Powerhouse Arts, a former power station along Brooklyn’s Gowanus Canal that has been converted into a non-profit art space. Guests, many dressed by Loewe, marveled at the sleek complex once known by graffiti artists as the Batcave.
The Museum of Modern Art honored Guillermo Del Toro at its 15th annual film benefit on Dec. 8, sponsored by Chanel. Before dinner, Jessica Chastain, Chloë Sevigny, Ariana DeBose and others got a first look at an exhibit about the making of “Pinocchio.”
That evening, the Metropolitan Museum of Art also held a black-tie gala to celebrate the year’s gifts and acquisitions. The gala committee drew from the city’s philanthropic elite, including the Lauders, Santo Domingos, and Tangs.
