With the mood palette on point, the fashion and beauty shows set a lively and experimental tone on Day 1 of FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week. The seasonal liquid showcases featured a range of ensembles that were not only texture-driven, but also told a story through every motif, color and silhouette when presented on the catwalk.
The showcases changed from vibrant color palettes to dark monochromatic hues throughout the day. While some shows featured bohemian prints, conscious luxury, fun accessories and flower power, there were some eclectic presentations with 3D geometry details, avant-garde designs and amorphous silhouettes.
Falling for flowers
Whether it’s Alpona Designs’ creative take on The Eden Garden, where majestic flowers and exotic birds became part of the collection, Lakme Salon x Varun Bahl’s Quintessential collection was surrounded by the magic of floral embroidery, or the classic silhouette of Shruti Sancheti wearing a full embroidered colorful floral jacket paired with a floral embroidery skirt, while the vibe felt spring, the silhouettes definitely screamed wedding!
An edgy, sexy expression
Moving away from the bohemian rhapsody and colorful soirees, the catwalk has also played host to a number of cutting-edge showcases presented by Shantnu & Nikhil, Outhouse and Lakme Lumi Cream x Alpana Neeraj. The beautiful Kirtimukha symbol (a mythological creature who stands guard before the gods in the temples of South India), telling stories through their collection, features on oversized sweatshirts in the Nomad collection by Shantnu & Nikhil.
Keeping it sassy and sexy on the slope was OutHouse’s OH Dopamine, a jewelry and accessory line that included jeweled thongs, waist chains, sunglasses, and elaborate jeweled harnesses. And last but not least, the collection by the designer duo Alpana Neeraj emphasized the brand’s signature style with 3D geometry with glittering details.
Travel in style
As the world opens its doors to travel, JJ Valaya’s bridge-to-luxury line is celebrating occasion wear on the go! Closing day 1 with a relaxed, fun and festive collection made from Tencel Luxe, Valaya presented conscious luxury with the utmost flair.
A day of comebacks!
The runway also played the perfect mood board for some interesting comebacks. The bucket hats have found their way back up the slope. Designer duo Shantnu and Nikhil experimented with the hat in their collection. The classic peplum top also finds its way back to design boards. Translucent veils in varied colors and embellished with embellishments make their presence felt in bridal couture.
