Symptoms of a sore throat include a scratchy feeling in the throat or pain while swallowing or talking
The sudden change in weather, from extreme heat and humidity to heavy rain, has caused people to catch colds. Although several symptoms indicate flu, the most common is a sore throat. You may notice a scratchy feeling in the throat, or pain while swallowing or talking.
You may also notice a hoarse or muffled voice. Under these circumstances, you can use some home remedies to alleviate your problems. According to Balrampur Hospital’s Ayurvedic doctor Jitendra Sharma, here are a few remedies you can use:
Garlic
In addition to improving the taste of food and adding aroma, garlic is known to help sore throats. According to the doctor, if you consume garlic, you can get relief from sore throat and pain. Garlic has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help fight infections.
Ginger
Ginger is also a useful food that can help with sore throats. According to the doctor, it has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that combat swelling and pain. Add more ginger to your hot soups or dals. Or drink ginger tea twice or three times a day for relief.
Honey
Honey also has anti-inflammatory properties that help against sore throats. Add it to lukewarm water or tea and drink it all day long. You can also add a tablespoon of honey to chopped Tulsi leaves or ginger and chew it.
Clove
One of the most common spices available in an Indian household is cloves, which can be used for sore throats. Take a piece of clove and some rock salt and chew it to cure your sore throat. It reduces the inflammation that takes place around the pharynx and provides relief.
Black pepper
Black peppercorns can soothe sore throats, suppress coughs and boost immunity to fight colds. You can crush black peppercorns and chew them with a tablespoon of honey. Or you can add this powder by brewing a concoction that will give you instant relief. Boil ginger, Tulsi leaves and cloves together. You can add a few tea leaves or skip it altogether. When the water boils, add two teaspoons of black pepper. Filter the drink and add a few drops of honey to it.
