Women go through a lot of emotions during pregnancy that can affect their mental health too
Motherhood is an extremely overwhelming experience for women and due to many hormonal changes, they go through mood swings both during pregnancy and after delivery. Emotional changes can be difficult for new mothers compared to women who have already experienced childbirth.
Anxiety and depression are common in women during pregnancy. Most women think too much during their pregnancy, they tend to compare themselves to other women and worry if they experience something that others don’t. Everyone’s body is different and so are the symptoms they experience.
According to psychologists, some of the most common symptoms of depression and anxiety in new mothers are being extremely sad or angry for no reason, having difficulty performing daily tasks, feeling anxious about the baby, and feeling guilty and irritable. There are no obvious causes behind this and such feelings can be the result of a combination of physical, environmental and emotional factors.
Spending time with family, counseling, talking to other new moms, eating healthy foods and meditation can help manage depression and anxiety during pregnancy, according to experts. All pregnant women and new mothers should consider meditating as it helps to control their emotions.
In addition, walking and exercising or doing yoga, drinking a lot of water and sleeping well when you are tired or otherwise also help.
