Losing pounds is a tedious job. From making changes to their diet plans to starting an exercise regimen, people are trying countless ways to lose weight. Many find the motivation to go to the gym but are unable to regulate their eating habits. Despite trying to eat right and include more nutritious, healthier foods in their diet, small mistakes often tend to get in the way of their weight loss goal.

Here are five traits that indicate your weight loss may be affected:

  1. food addict
    Are you a food addict? Some people have no idea when to stop, whether they are eating healthy or unhealthy food, they just keep going. If they like a dish, they may overeat or indulge in binge eating. Even when they are full, they have a hard time understanding that they need to stop. This is when one takes in more calories than they burn in a day, leading to weight gain.
  2. Reduce too many calories
    One has to get a grip on how many calories they consume. Although there are some who cut too many calories which is also not good. When calorie intake is too low, the body’s metabolism begins to slow down, requiring a larger calorie deficit to lose weight. The body’s hunger hormone, ghrelin, spirals out of control, often leading to overeating.
  3. Stressed out?
    There’s no arguing that stress affects our eating, exercise, and sleep habits, usually in a negative way. But not many people know that stress also affects cortisol levels, which makes it difficult to lose weight. People on restrictive diets are sometimes terrified of falling off the wagon and stressed about sticking to their diet, which often affects their weight loss efforts.
  4. good sleep
    Not getting enough sleep can have a direct impact on your weight. About 7-8 hours of sleep is recommended, but not everyone gets it, and it can leave us feeling foggy and listless the next day. After this, the body craves food, especially sugar, to help combat the lack of energy. It becomes very difficult to eat mindfully and follow a diet when you are sleep deprived. It is recommended to go to bed at a decent hour and remove things that interfere with sleep.
  5. binge eating
    Watching our favorite movies without snacks is not something we sign up for. We come up with ways to eat our favorite meals and give them fancy names like – guilty eating, sugar cravings, stress eating, rewarding food, and what not. We tend to ignore the hunger signals and also eat the most unhealthy foods while drinking.
