Named after the Indian hornbill, this event serves as a unifying celebration that showcases the diverse cultures of the tribes of Nagaland. The Hornbill Festival takes place annually in Kohima, Nagaland, from December 1 to 10. Now you can easily attend this festival, all thanks to Indian Railways. Here are the details of the IRCTC Hornbill Festival Tour Package:
Day 1: On arrival at Dimapur Airport or Railway Station, you will be transferred to Kohima by road. The journey covers a route of 68 km and usually takes around 3 hours. Along the way you can observe local women selling vegetables and various products in small huts. After a short stop, check into the hotel and spend the night in Kohima. Please note that the roads can be a bit rough.
Day 2: On the second day of the tour, after breakfast, you will be transported to Kisama Village, where the Hornbill Festival is held. During the day you can enjoy local food and drinks, stay in traditional Naga huts and explore various crafts. In addition, you have the opportunity to visit the Kohima War Memorial and nearby attractions. In the evening you can participate in the festival activities before spending the night in Kohima.
Day 3: It includes a trip to Konoma, a charming village located in the hills of Nagaland, about 25 km from Kohima. The journey to Konoma takes approximately 1.5 hours. In Konoma, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the traditional culture and traditions of the Naga village, including the opportunity to try your hand at making traditional shawls and baskets.
Day 4: After breakfast, you will be transferred to Dimapur Airport or Railway Station, from where you will catch your flight or train back to your city.
