Janhvi Kapoor became a showstopper for designer Punit Balana on Day 4 of FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week’. With an áadaab, a twirl and then a namaste, she had the audience inside the room cheer and applaud her. The actress became a showstopper for Punit’s new collection called Lakshmi.
Talking about his thoughts behind Lakshmi, Punit had said what the line means to him. Addressing the media present at the venue, the designer revealed: “Lakshmi,” as the name suggests, is inspired by the journey of this young, urban, cosmopolitan girl, Lakshmi, who is widely traveled, the world fashion has explored, yet is very rooted… She is returning to India after the pandemic to attend a friend’s wedding in Rajasthan.” And he insisted that he found his Lakshmi in Janhvi Kapoor. “So I could empathize with Lakshmi in Janhvi so well. She’s young, she’s modern, she’s experimental. She wants to try new fashion trends. So it was very easy for me.”
Talking about the collection, the designer said it is a rich handmade collection. “All natural hand paints, natural colours, vegetable prints – we took so much inspiration from Jaipur and Rajasthan.”
Speaking of her outfit, Janhvi Kapoor said, “It’s definitely the most comfortable lehenga I’ve ever been in. That said, the comfort doesn’t detract from its decadence or its richness. It is beautiful and great to wear in summer. It is so true to the vision of Punit and his clothing in general.”
She also started talking about walking the ramp after years, adding: “I had a lot of fun and it was different to be here after two years. I forgot about the madness that goes on backstage, there is such an amazing energy and everyone is so excited. It certainly lived up to the hype.”
Well, we are happy to see Janhvi in the driveway again. Professionally, Janhvi had quite a few movies lined up. She will shoot for Mr, And Mrs. Mahi next to Rajkummar Rao, for which she took cricket lessons. She also recently completed Mili’s shoot.
