Bengaluru has the maximum number of cancer cases.
From January to the end of May 2023, 1,57,903 patients appeared for cancer screening and retesting.
As we have been subjected to technological advancements in recent years, our lifestyle, in terms of healthy living, seems to have reached an all-time low. Working from the comfort of your couch with a few buttons and the world at your fingertips has drastically reduced physical activity, leading to many health problems. Add to that harmful addictions like alcohol and tobacco and you may be vulnerable to deadly diseases like cancer.
There’s a reason we’re talking about cancer today. The Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology in Bengaluru, Bengaluru’s renowned cancer hospital, has issued alarming information. According to the hospital’s latest release, Karnataka is growing into a cancer hub, with Silicon City (Bengaluru) having the maximum number of cases.
Kidwai Hospital has thousands of cancer patients undergoing treatment every month. From January to the end of May of this year, 1,57,903 patients appeared for screening and retesting. From January last year to December, 87,42,420 new cancer cases were confirmed in the state. A striking development is that women are the most vulnerable to cancer. The Kidwai Institute study found that breast cancer was more common among patients. Breast cancer was diagnosed in 4.9% of women on CT scans, while lung cancer was diagnosed in 4% of men on CT scans.
