These days, before deciding to have a child, plan ahead and make an informed choice. However, now it has become a new trend to take an emergency contraceptive pill, especially among young women, to avoid unwanted pregnancy. Many even consume the little pill that comes in the pregnancy test kits.
Pregnancy kits are an easy way to determine if someone is pregnant. These kits contain a tablet to extend the shelf life of the kit and keep the test device free of moisture. Due to the social media craze, many consider this tablet as a birth control pill and many women consume it.
This new trend could be deadly and even the women consuming this tablet could die, warns a London-based doctor. A National Health Service surgeon, Dr. Karan Ranjan, who is popular for sharing educational videos about health issues on Instagram, has warned about this new trend that is gaining popularity on the internet.
In a video entitled Forbidden Candy, Dr. Ranjan suggested the women seek medical help for those who have already consumed it. dr. Ranjan warned that the tablet found in a pregnancy test kit is not Plab B or an emergency contraceptive pill, but a poisonous tablet.
The tablet is actually a desiccant tablet used to absorb and retain moisture to extend the shelf life of a pregnancy test kit, similar to the tiny silica packets found in shoes and bags, the doctor said.
The comments poured in and many of his followers became concerned and shocked after seeing the video. The video has garnered more than two lakh views on Instagram.
