According to Hindu tradition, the lunar eclipse is believed to adversely affect the health and life of people. However, most of these are just myths and are not supported by scientific facts.
Here are some common myths people believe about the Chandra Grahan:
Looking at Chandra Grahan with naked eyes can damage your eyesight
It is said that witnessing the lunar eclipse with the naked eye can affect eye health and vision. While watching a solar eclipse with naked eyes can affect your eyes, as the rays can be strong during this time, nothing like that happens during a lunar eclipse. However, it is recommended to view the lunar eclipse through glasses, lenses and telescopes.
Pregnant women are not allowed to come out during the Chandra Grahan
Pregnant women are often advised to stay at home and not come out as lunar eclipses are believed to affect the health of the unborn child and can lead to deformities. However, it is all just a myth and has no scientific backing.
One should not eat during the eclipses
We have often heard that our parents and grandparents forbid us to consume food during the solar eclipses. Myths say that eating and drinking during that time can lead to indigestion.
One should take a bath right after the Chandra Grahan
Another popular myth says that washing and hair washing right after the solar eclipse will wash away the negative impact of lunar eclipses.
Wound takes longer to heal during lunar eclipse
If someone is injured or inflicted during the eclipse, it is believed to last a lifetime or last longer than usual. However, the recovery of each would depend on the cells of the body and not on obscurations.
