There is good news for all Indian travelers who want to go to Malaysia. The Asian nation will soon reintroduce the visa-on-arrival option for Indians. This is a step to attract more tourists from India to Malaysia.
Malaysia also plans to soon contain Covid-19 restrictions so that international tourists can explore the country without any hassle. Multiple Malaysian news outlets reported that Prime Minister Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the three main Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) institutions to curb coronavirus cases will soon be relaxed. The three SOPs wear masks, carry out Covid-19 detection tests and scan the MySejahtera application when entering the premises.
To promote travel to Malaysia, a representative of Tourism Malaysia, Manoharan Periasamy is also in India. Speaking at a press conference in Bengaluru, Mr. Periasamy, senior director of the Malaysian International Promotion Division (Asia and Africa), that all travel restrictions have been lifted since April 1, and that 76 flights per week are available to travel from India to Malaysia.
Of this number, 59 are available in South India. He added that Bengaluru is one of the main places from which travelers arrive in Malaysia.
While the visa on arrival is currently suspended due to Covid-19, it will resume two months later. Meanwhile, anyone planning to go to Malaysia can apply for an e-visa within 2-3 business days.
Relaxations of the Covid restrictions and visa on arrival will make travel hassle free for Indians and people will be able to explore Malaysia again.
While Japan and Singapore have the strongest passports in the world with visa-free travel to 192 of the 227 destinations, India ranks 83rd.
