MOTHER’S DAY 2022: Mothers, the beautiful creation, are an integral part of our lives. Mother’s love remains unconditional throughout life and stands by our side as a strong pillar. Mothers can raise families even when they are alone and make any home beautiful and loving with their presence. Every year we celebrate Mother’s Day – a special day dedicated to honoring and recognizing the love of all mothers. On this day, children greet their mother for all that she diligently does.

Mother’s Day 2022: Date

In India, Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May every year. This year we celebrate Mother’s Day on May 8.

Different countries celebrate Mother’s Day on different dates. British citizens celebrate Mother’s Day on the fourth Sunday of March to commemorate the memory of Mother Church on Christian Mothering Sunday. In Greece, it is marked on February 2, which connects the day with the Eastern Orthodox celebration of the Presentation of Jesus Christ in the Temple.

Mother’s Day 2022: History and Meaning

The celebration of Mother’s Day dates back to the early 20th century in the US. It is believed that the US celebrated the first Mother’s Day. In the US, a woman named Anna Jarvis organized a memorial service in memory of her mother after her death in 1905. Three years after her mother’s death, Jarvis organized a memorial ceremony at St. Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia to commemorate her mother and all mothers. Thus, the celebration of Mother’s Day began to recognize their efforts and value in our lives.

Mother’s Day officially came about after former US President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation in 1914 declaring the second Sunday of May a national holiday.
