The eighth day of Navratri or Durga Mahashtami is dedicated to Goddess Mahagauri, the eighth avatar of Maa Durga. Pandit Pradeep Acharya told News18 that on this auspicious day, most devotees meditate while concentrating on the face of Goddess Mahagauri. According to him, the women devotees should meditate while concentrating on the feet of Goddess Mahagauri. Pandit Acharya added that by doing this the female devotees will be able to attain their desired life partner.
Pandit Shri Acharya further said that this year Navratri started on October 15 and October 21 marks the Saptami Tithi. On this day, the seventh form of Maa Durga, Maa Kaalratri, will be worshipped. Ashtami Tithi starts on October 21 at 9:53 PM and lasts until the night of October 22.
However, thanks to Udaya Tithi, the Ashtami vrat on October 22 will be observed all day long. Pandit Acharya said that worshiping Mata Mahagauri from 9:21 PM to 10:56 PM on October 22 will reap benefits. On this day Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, Ravi Yoga, Karana Yoga and Bhadrasana Yog are formed.
1. Sarvartha Siddha Yog is considered auspicious for all types of work. All your desires will come true if you do anything in Sarvartha Siddha Yog.
2. Ravi Yog is associated with the energy of the sun and the work done in this yoga has a higher chance of success.
According to him, the devotees can worship Goddess Mahagauri by lighting a lamp. He added that worshipers who have installed the Kalash in their homes can also worship Goddess Mahagauri in their homes. Pandit Acharya said that Goddess puts an end to our enemies and blesses us with food, offspring, etc.
Devotees often organize Kanya Pujan on this day, inviting nine young girls. They offer Maa Durga’s favorite bhog including Halwa, Poori and coconut.
