Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru died on May 27, 1964. The first Prime Minister of independent India breathed his last in Delhi. He was the Prime Minister from 1947 to 1964 until he died at the age of 74. Considered one of the most prominent politicians in India, Nehru was home-schooled until the age of 15, after which he went abroad to continue his higher studies.
The eminent freedom fighter returned to India at the age of 22 to work as a lawyer for his father Motilal Nehru. One of India’s top politicians, Pandit Nehru was also affectionately referred to as “Chacha Nehru” by children. Nehru loved children and his birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day.
In memory of the iconic politician on the anniversary of his death, let’s take a look at some of his inspirational quotes:
- on courage
It’s all too easy to make suggestions and later try to escape the consequences of what we say.
- To life
Life is like a card game. The hand you get is determinism; the way you play it is free will.
- In case of failure
Failure comes only when we forget our ideals, purpose and principles.
- About nature
We live in a wonderful world full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if we only seek them with open eyes.
- on loyalty
Working loyally and efficiently for a great cause, even if it may not be recognized right away, pays off in the end.
