Commuters in San Francisco lifted their heads in disbelief when a 22-year-old man climbed the Salesforce Tower, the tallest skyscraper in California, on Tuesday. The man was identified as Maison Des Champs who climbed the 1,070-meter-high building to raise money for anti-abortion charities.
Des Champs, who identifies himself as a “pro-life spiderman,” arrived at the sales tower around 9 a.m. and began to climb. It wasn’t until he had climbed high enough to be seen from a mile away.
Social media quickly flooded with videos of him freely climbing the skyscraper. While some were shot and shared by people on the ground, some showed the perspective of people inside the building.
In addition to other people’s social media accounts, Des Champs has also updated his own. On his Instagram account, he shared clips and videos of his unprecedented climb. Des Champs, who shared snippets of his ascent, wrote in the caption, “Go to prolifespiderman.com and donate to my pro-life charity go-fund-me.”
In addition to trying to raise money for anti-abortion charities, the “pro-life spiderman” also demanded the arrest of Dr. Cesare Washington, a Washington DC abortionist.
After climbing to the top of the building, Des Champs was greeted by the San Francisco police officers, who arrested him.
In an interview with ABC7, when asked if he ever regretted doing it, Des Champs replied, “No. It was fun. I’d do it again.” He also said he was aware that he would end up in jail and wanted to share some videos with the public for that. During his climb, he was noticed to stop for a moment so he could share the videos on social media.
