Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra is known for her rigorous fitness regimen and advocacy for a healthy mind and body. Now her sister and Mohabbatein actress Shamita Shetty has shed light on her diet, fitness routine and more on Shilpa’s candid chat show Shape of You.
Shamita said her fitness journey started with her debut film Mohabbatein herself. After getting into the movie industry, Shamita said her goal was just to lose weight in the early days. However, she added that she followed “weird diets” to achieve the desired shape and “had no idea about the right way of dieting and eating healthy.”
Shamita admitted it took her time to understand “what works for my body” and said exercise and strength training later became a part of her life. Shamita also emphasized that exercising not only makes you feel good, but also improves mood.
Furthermore, Shamita revealed her daily eating routine and said that she prefers to start the day with 2 glasses of warm water. Shamita said this habit helps cleanse the organs in the morning. After this, Shamita said that she eat some fruits and then take black tea or coffee.
When asked about her eating habits, Shamita said she suffers from IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and colitis. Because of this, Shamita said she experienced constant pain and was on a gluten-free diet. She claimed it is effective for her in dealing with digestive issues and works well for her gut.
Later in the show, Shamita spoke about the decisions she made to stay fit and emphasized that avoiding sugar was too hard for her. The actress said she is following a normal diet only without sugar and is witnessing amazing results on her body.
Shamita went on to claim that she reinvented her workouts at some point because she realized it wasn’t working for her and also because she was bored of the same type of exercise.
