If you just can’t stop sneezing or have itchy eyes the moment you go outside, it could just be an indication of a dust allergy. With the levels of air pollution, dust allergies have become very common. While they may not seem like a big deal at first, dust allergies can put you at greater risk for other serious infections. So what exactly is a dust allergy? There are different types of microorganisms in the air we breathe. Here we speak with Dr. Sanjay Bhatia, ENT Surgeon at Fortis Hospital in Mumbai to discover common dust allergy symptoms and how to keep them at bay
Dust Allergy Symptoms
– Constant headache
– To sneeze.
– Running nose
– Itching and burning sensation in the nose.

-Red, itchy, watery eyes
– Swelling around the eyes.
This is how you prevent dust allergies
Wear masks when going outside If you experience dust allergy symptoms. The mask prevents the small dust particles from entering your system and also gives you a layer of protection against the possibility of COVID-19 infection.
Avoid eating out, especially in places where food is kept open. It can increase the chance of developing a dust allergy. Tiny dust particles are everywhere and can contaminate food stored in the open air. Eating out in places where the food is not properly covered can allow dust particles to get into your system.
Drink only filtered water: Make a careful effort to drink only filtered water to avoid dust allergy or any such infection. Dust particles can enter our bodies through the water we drink. Carry your bottle when you go outside.
Keep your bedding and surroundings clean: Dust that accumulates on the bed, doormat, curtains, or carpet of the home increases the risk of dust allergies. Be sure to clean your home, especially bedding in a timely manner, to prevent dust particles from accumulating around you.
Use wet cloth for cleaning – Use a slightly damp cloth instead of a dry cloth for cleaning. The moisture in the cloth causes dust particles to stick to the cloth, making the cleaning process more effective at removing dust particles from your environment.
