World Autism Awareness Day is held on April 2 to spread awareness about the medical condition. It also aims to draw attention to the various challenges that people with autism face in their daily routine.
The theme for this year is ‘inclusion in the workplace’. To raise awareness, a number of events and seminars are organized.
These are some of the symptoms of autism
Being lost in your own thoughts
Not being social
Not communicating with others
Not being able to maintain eye contact while talking
Be quiet and never smile or laugh
Lack of speech development on time
Natural aversion to any kind of touch or hugs
Don’t respond to someone calling by name
Can’t point to an object
Repetition of the same behavior pattern
The question that often arises in this regard is whether pregnancy can cause autism in children. According to a number of studies, a lack of folic acid and vitamin D in women during pregnancy can increase the risk of autism in the child. A mother’s diet is considered one of the factors that “affect a child’s chance of having autism.” In some cases, genes are said to “determine about 50 to 95 percent of the risk.”
In the United States, one in 88 children has an autism spectrum disorder.
Experts have said: ‘Some children are deeply affected, speak very little or not at all, and focus obsessively on just a few interests. Others have milder problems communicating and reading social cues, such as gestures and facial expressions of others.”
