Everyone should make a consistent effort to save the environment. It doesn’t always take a lot of money or a lot of effort to save the environment; rather a few simple changes in our lifestyle can help us conserve nature. We can also save money by adopting an eco-friendly lifestyle.
Here are five ways to go green without spending a lot of money.
- Walking to work
You can save a few bucks more by taking public transportation or by bike for your daily commute to the office or to the market. Whenever possible, it is better to walk to your destination rather than turn off your vehicle. It also saves you additional fuel costs and reduces your carbon footprint. - Environmentally friendly energy sources
Fossil fuels have been around for a while, but it is high time to switch to environmentally friendly energy sources. It is better to use electric vehicles and vehicles that run on compressed natural gas. At first it may seem like an extra expense to own a vehicle that doesn’t run on petrol or diesel, but in the long run it will save you a lot of money. - Reduce red meat consumption
Going vegetarian can be a drastic lifestyle change, but gradually you can eat more plant-based foods instead of red meat. Growing ready-to-eat meat and processing red meat requires more water and leaves a huge environmental footprint. Changing your priorities in this case can also benefit your wallet. - Be sensible when buying clothes
The production of clothing has a major impact on the environment. The best way to be eco-friendly is to be sensible when buying clothes. You can also save some extra money that you would have spent on shopping. - Avoid Tobacco
Smoking not only affects your health, but also the health of the environment. Every part of a cigarette does more harm than thought. Whether it’s the smoke, the discarded butts or the tobacco production, everything has an impact on the environment. Staying away from tobacco will also save you a lot of money that you would have wasted on cigarettes and other similar products.
