It’s been just over three months since DailyExpertNews bought Wordle, the hugely popular puzzle created by Josh Wardle. Wordle continues to surprise millions of people every day, but as we move to the technology of The Times, we have continued to discover challenges.
For example, today some users may see an outdated answer that seems to be closely related to an important recent news event. This is completely unintentional and coincidental – today’s original answer was loaded into Wordle last year.
At DailyExpertNews Games, we take our role as a place to entertain and escape seriously, and we want Wordle to stand out from the news.
But due to current Wordle technology, it can be difficult to change words that are already loaded in the game. When we found out last week that this particular word would appear today, we swapped it out for as many solvers as possible.
You will not receive the outdated version if you refresh your browser window. But we know that some people won’t and as a result will be asked to solve the outdated puzzle.
We would like to emphasize that this is a very unusual circumstance. When we bought Wordle in January, it was built for a relatively small group of users. We are now innovating Wordle’s technology so that everyone always gets the same word. We are committed to ensuring that tens of millions of people have a satisfying and consistent experience every day.
Thank you for your patience as we work on improvements to Wordle. We wouldn’t be here without our amazing community of solvers.
