The Center said on Monday that it is closely following developments in Kazakhstan and looks forward to a rapid stabilization of the situation.
Arindam Bagchi, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA), said coordination with the authorities has helped ensure the safety and security of Indian nationals in that country.
“India is closely following recent developments in Kazakhstan. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of innocent victims who lost their lives in the violence,” he said.
“As a close and friendly partner of Kazakhstan, we look forward to a rapid stabilization of the situation,” Bagchi said.
Kazakhstan has witnessed widespread violence after protests initially sparked by a rise in fuel prices.
More than 160 people are said to have been killed in the violence.
“Coordination with the authorities has helped to ensure the safety and security of Indian nationals. They are advised to follow the local security instructions and contact the Embassy of India for assistance,” Mr Bagchi said.
