Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari were on Tuesday suspended from the entire winter session of the West Bengal Assembly for making objectionable remarks against Speaker Biman Banerjee.
The BJP’s legislative party has termed Suvendu’s suspension as “unconstitutional” and staged a walkout from the House.
Suvendu said the Speaker and the ruling party (TMC) are functioning in an unconstitutional manner.
The BJP plans to move a no-confidence motion against the Speaker in the ongoing session.
During the discussion, BJP MLA Sankar Ghosh wondered how MLAs who left the BJP still retained their posts without resigning as MLAs.
