The Ministry of Home Affairs has granted permission to the Ayodhya Ram Temple to receive foreign donations. The Indian National Congress criticized the decision and targeted the BJP, accusing the party of being “hypocritical”.
“Hypocrisy at its finest! Remember, when Kerala was hit by deadly floods and needed money for reconstruction, the Modi government denied us permission to receive foreign funds! The government did the same with NGOs working for humanitarian causes,” the Kerala Congress wrote on X.
The party’s Kerala division also targeted the Prime Minister for ‘blatantly allowing the FCRA to open a temple’.
‘No sense of pride or atmanirbhar for the Ram temple? Why, Modiji?,” the party said in its X-post.
The allegations by the Congress party’s Kerala division came after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) cleared the way for people from across the world to send donations for the construction of the Ayodhya Ram temple. The ministry has allowed Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra to receive contributions from foreign sources for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, general secretary Champat Rai said on Wednesday.
“The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra has been approved by the FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act) Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, to receive voluntary contributions under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 2010,” he said in a statement message on X.
Construction work for the ground floor of the three-storey Ram temple in Ayodhya is expected to be completed by December end. The consecration ceremony will take place on January 22, Nripendra Mishra, chairman of the temple construction committee, recently told news agency PTI.
The final date of the ceremony is yet to be confirmed. However, Nripendra Mishra said that the Prime Minister is expected to participate in an event related to the ‘pran pratishtha’ on any day between January 20 and 24.
