Jaishankar said India began its G20 chairmanship by convening the Voice of the Global South Summit, which allowed the country to listen directly to 125 countries and put their concerns on the G20 agenda.
“As a result, issues deserving global attention received fair treatment. In fact, the deliberations have produced results of great significance for the international community. It was also notable that, at the initiative of India, the African Union became a permanent member of the G20. By doing this, we have given a voice to an entire continent that has long been entitled to its rights,” the Foreign Minister said.
“…India is also trying to promote cooperation with various partners. From the era of non-alignment, we have now evolved into that of ‘Vishwa Mitra – a friend of the world’. This is reflected in our ability and willingness to work with a wide range of countries and harmonize interests where necessary,” he said.
