The call for political change grew stronger this week as the INDIA alliance gears up for a third meeting in Mumbai. RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav told reporters on Tuesday that the opposition parties essentially went to the throat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in their bid to usher in change. Meanwhile, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar had alluded to the possible expansion of the alliance with the inclusion of some more regional parties.
“Mumbai mine Narendra Modi as nasty (throat) pe chadhne jaa rahe hain humlog. Narendra Modi ka nareti grabbed huye hain hum, hatana haisaid the RJD chief.
The upcoming meeting will discuss electoral strategies and seat sharing in the United States, among other things. A new INDIA alliance logo is also likely to be launched.
Both the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance and the opposition group INDIA will hold rallies in the coastal city on September 1.
Congress senior leader Ashok Chavan has indicated that about 26 to 27 opposition alliance parties will attend the meeting.
“An informal meeting will be held on the evening of August 31 in Mumbai and a formal meeting on September 1. Two meetings have been organized so far. The following agenda will therefore be discussed in this third meeting. We decide to create a common logo and it may be unveiled on August 31,” he told ANI.
