“All the people we have here are our friends. We are different, you are different, does this mean our friendship will end? You will be connected to me as long as I live. We will all work together. President, we are very I am happy that you are here. We want you to keep coming here. We will one day show you the entire Champaran, the land of Mahatma Gandhi,” Nitish Kumar said.

Without naming Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kumar acknowledged that the project saw the light of day only after a change of guard “in 2014” as the UPA government “initially refused and after much persuasion agreed in principle but made no progress” . .
However, CM Nitish Kumar’s friendship comment to the BJP leader did not go down well with the BJP or its ally Rashtriya Janata Dal.
CM Nitish Kumar’s statement earned scorn from BJP, which said ‘doors’ are closed for their JD(U) leader. Particularly Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who sidelined the saffron party a year ago and stripped it of power in the state.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh said, “This was not love for BJP, this is the fight between elder brother and younger brother… Whenever Lalu Yadav overpowers him, he (Nitish Kumar) says he will go with BJP… He gets scared. Lalu Yadav. The doors and windows of the BJP and all party workers are closed (to Nitish Kumar). What is he left with now? The doors of BJP are closed.”
However, the RJD, an ally of Nitish Kumar, played down the comments saying the Bihar Chief Minister was talking about his personal relationships.
“Radha Mohan Singh (of BJP) was sitting in the front, so he talked about his personal relationship. There is no mention of any party. People misinterpreted him,” RJD’s Shakti Yadav said.
