The Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscope instrument aboard Chandrayaan-3’s ‘Pragyan’ rover has ‘unambiguously confirmed the presence of sulfur on the lunar surface near the south pole.
“The Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscope (LIBS) instrument on board the Rover unequivocally confirms the presence of sulfur (S) on the lunar surface near the South Pole, through first-ever in-situ measurements. As expected, Al, Ca, Fe, Cr, Ti, Mn, Si and O are also detected. The search for hydrogen (H) is ongoing,” the space agency tweeted.
