Astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore would return to Earth around 19 March 2025.
Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who have been on board the International Space Station (ISS) since September on board their date of return while speaking with CNN.
The new schedule shortens Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore's extensive stay in space, which officially reached the eight -month Mark last week.
The astronauts were initially planned to return at the end of March or early April. This shift in plans follows the decision of NASA and SpaceX to change the capsules for upcoming astronaut flights.
According to the earlier schedule, Wilmore and Sunita Williams would return after a week on board the ISS in June 2024. They would return on board the Starliner capsule of Boeing. However, technical challenges prevented the Starliner from reaching the ISS, which led to a new allocation of the crew Dragon Capsule from SpaceX.
With the new return date from the mid -March, the extensive mission of Wilmore and Williams will end quickly, ending a journey characterized by countless challenges and delays.
Sunita Williams records more than 62 hours of space walk
In January 2025, Sunita Williams broke the record for total space time by registering a woman by registering 62 hours and 6 minutes space.
“NASA Astronaut Suni Williams just surpassed the total space time of former astronaut Peggy Whitson from 60 hours and 21 minutes,” Nasa said in a post on X.
The 62 hours of Sunita Williams and 6 minutes of spatial time surpassed the record of Peggy Whitsons for the total space time by a female astronaut. Williams is now in fourth place on the list of NASA of all time.
In 2012, during a mission to the international space station, Sunita William's history wrote by becoming the first person to complete a triathlon in space. They simulated swimming with the help of a weighting machine, ran on a treadmill while she was used to prevent them from drifting away, and completed the unique achievement while on board the space station.
