Pacer Harshit Rana impressed his ODI debut, while India England was out for an Onder-PAR 248 despite the half center of Jos Butler and Jacob Bethell in the series opener in Nagpur on Thursday. England shot from the blocks with exciting intention after they had chosen to bat, but India's disciplined bowling and razor -sharp field fields orchestrated a remarkable fightback. Rana (3/53) and the always reliable Ravindra Jadeja (3/26) shared six wickets between them in a clinical representation of Bowlen.
According to official broadcasters Star Sports, Rana is the first Indian bowler who takes at least three wickets on debut in all three formats. Rana made his test debut against Australia in November last year in Perth. He made his T20i debut in Pune last month.
In the meantime, Buttler (52), Bethell (51) and Phil Salt (43) scored the large part of the runs for England.
Rana made his ODI debut and has passed a baptism through fire. His first about turned out to be precious, while the explosive Phil Salt partyed on its deliveries and looted 26 runs in a ruthless representation of Power-Hitting.
Three sixes and two four rained on the young Pacer, so that Rohit Sharma turns around quickly, with Axar Patel (1/38) calling in an attempt to stop the flow of runs.
The load of England, however, remained ruthless, with Ben Duckett (32) received a range of success, including a beautifully executed Reverse Sweep, to have the scoreboard ticked.
Just when the visitors seemed ready for an attack, India hit back in a sensational way. Shreyas Iyer produced a moment of sparkle in the field and ran the dangerous salt with a bullet throw to Kl Rahul after a mix between the two openers.
While Rana's 26-run gave the momentum over England, his fourth changed over which two wickets changed the complexion of the innings, so that India had control.
First, the two debutants of India – Rana and Yashasvi Jaiswal – combined to get rid of Duckett. Jaiswal, stationed on midwicket, ran 21 meters back before he performed a breathtaking full-stretch dive to close a beautiful catch of Rana's bowling.
Rana, now in the rhythm, again hit only two balls later, so Harry Brook was thrown to Rahul as England, once in Cruise Control, suddenly faltered, after he had lost three wickets and left their two most experienced batters behind – Joe Root and Buttler – With the responsibility to rebuild the innings.
Jadeja, however, cut the stay of the short carrot in the fold, which catch him Been-Before-Wicket, so that the hope of England on recovery is further affected.
Buttler held fort Fort for a while and scored a rather calming fifty. The skipper passed his innings with four borders and seemed to play a crucial role, but the top ran directly to hardly on a short fine leg with a Hardik from Axar.
With wickets who regularly tumbled, 21-year-old Bethell out stuck to pick up a resolute fifty, including a lonely six and three four. But Jadeja swung into action to catch him LBW. PTI APA ATK
