The All India Football Federation (AIFF) will investigate the late arrival of football boots belonging to four members of the FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup squad, causing the players to wear them for the first time during their game against the US. AIFF Secretary General Shaji Prabhakaran said he has asked for a report from the national teams department on how the shipment of new boots did not arrive on time. He said action will be taken if necessary.
“After going through the preliminary report, we will launch an investigation to find out the facts and resolve the responsibility,” Prabhakaran told PTI on Thursday.
It’s been learned that some players — usually those wearing a smaller number — had requested new shoes last month, but the delivery was late because it was brought by land transport.
Prabhakaran said the AIFF still does not know the reasons for the delay in the delivery of the shoes to the players, and that is why the report has been requested.
“We have requested a report from the national team department of the AIFF. We do not have the full facts of how this happened,” he added.

“What we know is that three to four players who wear smaller shoes wanted new shoes, but those shoes got to the players too late.” A football player may feel uncomfortable on the first day of wearing a new shoe as it takes time to get used to it.
India lost their opening game to the US 0-8 on Tuesday.
