Former CAB president Avishek Dalmiya and current IPL president Arun Singh Dhumal have been re-elected to the IPL Governing Council as per decisions taken at the BCCI annual general meeting held in Goa on Monday. The general body was informed that BCCI earned over 38 percent from the annual revenue generated by the ICC and also earned Rs 67 crore (approximately) per match from media rights during the next cycle of bilateral series. “All the routine decisions have happened. The list of names for the cricket committees and sub-committees will be prepared by the office-bearers as entrusted by the House. As far as the IPL GC is concerned, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal and Avishek Dalmiya had to do that. be elected and it happened as per expectations,” a representative of a state unit told PTI.
It has also been learned that the Ombudsman-cum-Ethics Officer will continue with his contract, which expires next year.
“The Ombudsman-cum-Ethics Officer will remain in office till June 2024. He will serve out his entire contract,” the source from the state unit said.
The board members were also informed about the new budget and the profit made by BCCI in the last financial year.
Former Indian left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha will no longer be the Indian Cricketers’ Association representative in the Apex Council.
“The ICA will be elected and then choose their new representative.” There were talks about Salil Ankola’s removal from the national selection panel as chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, who is also from Mumbai, is already part of the panel.
The BCCI has an agreement that five selectors will represent five zones and this time two will be from West Zone.
“There was no such discussion about this at the AGM. If there is something, it can only happen after the World Cup. There is no selector change at this stage,” the source said.
