World champion boxer Nikhat Zareen is an avid fan of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. In May, after winning gold at the World Boxing Championship, Nikhat said in an interview with DailyExpertNews: “Logo ka bhai hoga, woh toh meri jaan hai. Salman, I’m his big fan. It is my dream to meet him. My dream is to win the Olympic medal first and then go straight to Mumbai and meet Salman Khan.” The superstar also commented on the video. “Congratulations on this gold Nikhat… @nikhat_zareen,” Salman wrote on Twitter. Now the duo has an Instagram reel that has gone viral, in which the video can be seen dancing to the song ‘Saathiya yeh tune kya kiya’ from Salman’s 1991 film ‘Love’.
“Finallyyyyy intezar khatam hua #fanmoment #whennikhatmetsalman #dreamcometrue #salmankhan,” Nikhat captioned the video.
Commonwealth Games light flyweight champion Nikhat Zareen will continue to trade in the 50kg weight category until the 2024 Paris Olympics. For the CWG, Zareen dropped from 52kg, in which she won the world championship in May, to 50kg to assess how her body is adapting to the lower weight class.
“I prefer losing weight and boxing in lower weight categories, so I will continue in this category,” Zareen told PTI in an interaction.
In the absence of her favored 52kg weight distribution at the Paris Olympics, the 26-year-old faces a dilemma: either go to 50kg or climb to 54kg.

However, after her dominant display at the CWG, winning gold in her first appearance, it seems the bronze medalist of the 2019 Asian Championships is feeling comfortable with her new weight class.
“It (the win) is very important to me because it has entered a new category. I had to work harder for this to lose two kilos and at the same time not give up speed and power,” she said.
“The competition here was nowhere near what I had at the World Championships. But for me it was a new experience for me (weight category). I was confident that I would do well. But you never know how it ends in the ring.” Having become a household name following her spectacular World Championship win, expectations for Zareen to return with a gold medal from Birmingham were running high.

“There were a lot of expectations for me after winning the World Championships, there’s no doubt about that.”
